The intention was to replace the old car workshop, that was out of context in the middle of the residential area, with a more appropriate use. Considering all the site factors, one of the residential buildings, located at the front, answers the needs of the area by allocating the ground floor to a convenience store. The second and third block, located to the rear of the site, were designed to be purely residential, 3 storey buildings, with undercroft car parking on the ground floor. The increase in height was dictated by the secondary position of this block in reference to the main street.
The new buildings seek to enhance and complement the character of the surrounding area. In order to provide a strong unity in design, use of similar material style, colour and architectural features were used. Communal amenity area is provided on the West and South sides of the application site and new trees are planted on the West boundary to protect the privacy of adjacent properties.
